BWC #2 will be held at the historic Sveaborg Sea Fortress in Helsinki, Finland. Sveaborg is a 15-20 min ferry ride from the Market Square.
Dates: April 18-19, 2026 (Pajasali, Google Maps link). Exact hours are to be confirmed, but the target is Sat 9-21 with Sunday being likely 9-17. Friday 17th is an open option and solely depends on finances.
Entrance fee: Limited “early bird” 20 eur for adults (sold out). 25 eur covers both Sat & Sun, minors are free. If Friday becomes available as the 3rd day, that will require a separate fee.
- 64+ seats available.
- Tables: over 20 medium size + one large conference table. Access to tables is included in the entrance fee, but final allocation is by the organizer. Check the images below for reference. A table / game plan worksheet will be released closer to the event. Note: Due to “small” tables being very narrow, we likely need to join two tables for a single game (see picture below).
Venue
Pajasali (“Workshop”) Hall is inside a building completed in 1786 in the Sveaborg Sea Fortress (“Gibraltar of the Baltic”) – a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Helsinki. It is located on a group of small islands just outside the Helsinki main harbor and easily accessible by ferries including the public transit system (“bus ticket” works on the ferry). Although car parking is always a challenge in the city (no cars allowed at Sveaborg), public transit will serve players well. Pajasali is a very short walk from the main ferry pier on the north end of the main island.
Due to the historical nature, unfortunately, this location is not “easy access”.

Program
Play games with old or new friends over the weekend in a world-class and unique environment. The only reason an entrance fee is carried is because the venue costs an arm and a leg.
Several new or under development game projects are available for testing (this is preliminary information subject to change!):
- Wojciech Zalewski (Taktyka i Strategia / TS Wargames, Poland) will demo 1814: Norwegian War of Independence, Warsaw 1656, and 1939 Westerplatte.
- Stefan Ekström and Jan Larsson (Three Crowns Games, Sweden) bring their new games set around the 1st Battle of El Alamein and the 2nd Battle of Kharkov, both in 1942. PLUS maybe a still secret project…
- Brian Berg Asklev Hansen (Denmark) brings his latest games, Baltic Empires: The Northern Wars of 1558-1721 (GMT Games) and 1813: Napoleon’s Struggle for Germany (VUCA). He is also the designer of several wargames such as 1812: Napoleon’s Fateful March (VUCA Simulations) and two games in the GMT’s Musket & Pike Battles Series. PLUS maybe a still secret project…
- Roger Sjögren (Sweden) will demo his GNWB series (Great Northern War Battles) with the art designer Mikael Rosenqvist. Exact projects are to be defined, but at least 1713 Pälkäne/Kostianvirta and/or 1714 Napue will be on the table by Mikko Saario. You can read about a test session of the 1710 Helsingborg. Roger’s many scenarios include: Gemaurthof 1705, Fraustadt 1706, Poltava 1709, and Helsingborg 1710. Even Roger’s Here I Stand -inspired game “Time of Troubles” (right-click – Translate) might be playable!
- Yves Rettel will bring his new game, Northern Strike, for testing and trials! His Red Strike won the Charles S Roberts award for the best operational wargame.
- Kevin Bertram (Fort Circle Games, USA) brings award-winning Volko Ruhnke‘s new game “Hunt for Blackbeard” to play.
You can leave games on the tables overnight.
Organizer
The event is organized by Mikko Saario (Flintlock Games).
Sveaborg Sea Fortress
Sveaborg is a unique historical site with museums, shops, restaurants and a supermarket. It also hosts the Military Museum of Finland and the WW2 submarine Vesikko (a pre-WW2 German U-boat prototype), If you visit the museum, its entrance fee is valid for both.

Recent wintery photos of the venue as I visited it in February 2026

I found some pictures I had taken at Sveaborg & the military museum there

And one pic from the submarine Vesikko
